Sarah Van Evera lives in New Jersey where she paints children’s book illustrations, landscapes, abstracts, and pet portraits. She has illustrated 21 children’s books, including The Little Book of Series and The Superhero Series, currently sold on Amazon.
She has experience in oil painting, acrylics and gauche, but she prefers the watercolor medium. This medium is challenging and unique: the opaque nature of watercolor is useful in depicting organic materials and blending color fluidly, but it is not forgiving. Paint is added in layers of transparency, the base color of the paper shows through to depict white shapes within the painting.
Sarah has been a fine artist for 20 years. Her artwork shows a strong sense of color theory and unique color pairings. Negative space plays a central role in making her abstracts unique and captivating.
Sarah is also a fashion designer. She has designed women’s accessories for Coach, Tory Burch, Kate Spade, Max Axria, Judith Leiber, Rebecca Minkoff, Kurt Geiger and Michael Kors. You can see more of her portfolio at her website: www.sarahvaneveradesign.com.
Sarah fine tuned her fashion illustration sensibilities at Parsons, the New School of Design, where she studied Fashion Design. She graduated with a BFA in 2009 and attributes her strong work ethic and refined design eye to her time at Parsons.
